When Should You Replace a Radiator?
Old radiators lose efficiency over time. Sludge builds up inside, pinhole leaks develop, and outdated panel designs simply can’t match the heat output of a modern convector radiator. If you’ve noticed any of the following, it’s time to call us.
If your radiator is hot at the top but cold at the bottom — or cold in the middle — sludge and corrosion have likely built up inside. Bleeding won’t fix it. A powerflush may help, but if the radiator is old or corroded, replacement is the more cost-effective long-term solution.
Pinhole leaks, rusty seams and weeping valves are signs your radiator is past its best. Temporary fixes only delay the inevitable — a new radiator with fresh valves eliminates the problem and protects your flooring and walls from water damage.
If one room is always colder than the rest, the radiator may be undersized for the space. We carry out a heat-loss calculation and fit a correctly rated radiator so the room heats evenly and efficiently — no more layering up indoors.
Replacing radiators during a refurbishment is the ideal time — we can reposition them, upgrade to slimline or vertical designer radiators, and fit thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) to give you room-by-room temperature control.
Professional Radiator Installation — Done Right
Every radiator replacement we carry out follows the same thorough process: we drain down the system, remove the old radiator and valves, flush the pipework, and fit the new radiator with fresh TRVs and a lockshield valve. We then refill, pressurise, bleed and balance the entire system so every radiator in the house heats evenly.
We supply radiators from trusted UK manufacturers sized to match your room’s heat-loss requirements — not just a like-for-like swap. If you’d prefer a specific brand, style or finish (vertical, column, anthracite, flat-panel), just let us know and we’ll source it for you.
Call us on 01202 668822 for a no-obligation quote — we’ll talk you through your options and book a convenient time to get it done.

Save Money on Your Heating Bills
Modern double-panel convector radiators with fins (Type 22) produce significantly more heat per square metre than old single-panel designs. Combined with thermostatic radiator valves, replacing your radiators can noticeably reduce your gas bills by heating rooms faster and allowing your boiler to cycle off sooner. If you’re fitting a new boiler, upgrading your radiators at the same time makes the whole system work as efficiently as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
A straightforward like-for-like radiator replacement typically takes around 1–2 hours, including draining down and refilling the system. If we’re repositioning the radiator or running new pipework, it may take a little longer — we’ll let you know the expected timescale before we start.
Not at all. We’re happy to replace a single radiator or just the ones that are causing problems. That said, if you’re upgrading your boiler or renovating, doing them all at once is more efficient and means we only need to drain the system once.
In most cases yes — modern radiators are available in a wide range of sizes. If we’re upgrading to a higher BTU output, the new radiator may be slightly larger or we might recommend a double-panel convector that produces more heat without taking up much more wall space. We measure up and confirm before ordering.
If your system has heavy sludge, a powerflush before or during the radiator replacement helps protect your new radiators and boiler. We’ll check the water condition when we drain down and advise honestly whether a flush is needed — we won’t recommend one unless it’s genuinely worthwhile.
We supply and fit as standard — our prices include the radiator, valves, and all fittings. We source from reputable UK manufacturers and size each radiator to the room. If you’ve already purchased a radiator or have a specific model in mind, we’re happy to fit that instead.
